Cylinder Lock

by Harsh Gangwal 0 Comments

A cylinder lock is a locking mechanism that enables a mortise lock case for locking and unlocking function via a key.

The Cylinder locks are commonly known as:

  • Euro Cylinder Lock
  • Euro Profile Cylinders
  • Profile Cylinder Lock
  • Mortise Cylinder

The main advantage of a cylinder lock mechanism over lever lock mechanism is that the cylinder can be changed in future without altering the handle and the mortise lock or changing the size of mortise lock pocket/cut-out. The changing of cylinder lock in future is an easy process, which requires only loosening a set of screws and then sliding the cylinder out of the door.

It allows the users to combine itself with wide range mortise locks such as sash, deadbolt, nightlatch, bathroom lock and sliding lock. It also allows the users to use different thickness of doors.

We offer some common types of cylinder locks such as:

  • Key and Knob Cylinder – a cylinder lock that has a key slot on one side and a turn able knob on the other side. These cylinders are also known as thumbturn cylinder. These are ideal for rooms that require controlled access from one side of the room and easy access from the other side. These are ideal for a bedroom, where the knob is inside the room and the key slot on the outer side of the room door. These can also be used bathroom doors. If these are used for a main/entrance door, please use it with an additional Deadbolt to enhance the security level. We generally offer only equidistance (from the center of the screw hole) cylinders.

  • Key and Key Cylinder – a cylinder lock that has key slots on both the sides. These cylinders are also known double key cylinder or double cylinder. These are ideal for rooms that require controlled access from both the side of the rooms. If these are used for a main/entrance door, please use it with an additional Deadbolt to enhance the security level. We generally offer only equidistance (from the center of the screw hole) cylinders.

  • Key - Half Cylinder – a cylinder lock that has only one side that is a key slot. These cylinders are also known as single cylinder. The key slot is mostly on the other side of the room. These are ideal for rooms, which have one side opening (external side). These are ideal for storerooms, which also has a one-side opening and needs security on one side.
